Community Camps

Community Camps: every year we have a family camp so that families can get away together for a weekend filled with fun activities. We believe that when a family has time away together and enjoy themselves this strengthens the family unit and this in turn strengthens the community. The families that come to camp are involved throughout the year. Phone the Hub to find out when the next family camp is!

Molley Green Neighbourhood Day

Molley Green Neighbourhood Day – “People in Harmony” 26th March 2011. Starting at 11.30am with an official opening of the upgrade of the Park. This day is a fun day for the family, celebrating the diversity of Mt Roskill. Come along and have fun on the giant water slide and watch all the music and dance performances.

The Roskill South Oasis, a community organisation set up last year, is holding a People in Your Neighbourhood Day at Molley Green Reserve, which aims to celebrate what’s unique about the suburb. It will include cultural performances, ethnic food stalls, and fun for the kids including a bouncy castle, waterslide and games.

The Auckland City Council, local schools, ethnic groups and businesses are among a number of organisations getting behind the day.

Council community services advisor Roger Earp says the event aims to strengthen the community by uniting them under one event.

School Holiday Programme

Each school holidays we run a small programme, usually 3 mornings during the first week. Each day has a theme, costs $1 and morning tea is provided. We are in the process of getting OSCAR approval.

Father’s Day Brunch

Each year on Father’s Day we have a special brunch at the Hub for the dad’s in the community. The mum’s and their children organise a special menu and have lots of entertainment for the man in their life!

Mother’s Day Brunch

Mother’s Day – each year on Mother’s Day we have a special brunch at the Hub where the Dad’s and their children put on a special morning of food and entertainment for the mum’s.

Community Garden

Via the Roskill Community Voice

Attended a great meeting at The Roskill South Oasis on Thursday night to start the process of getting a community garden up and running there. Very enthusiastic bunch of people living in the surrounding streets, with a wide variety of gardening experience (from none, to a little, to a lot, to having their own greenhouse!)

We’ve decided to probably have one large garden directly behind the main church building, with some tractor tyres for individual plots as well. People have gone away to see if they can source cheap/free materials, and find out further information about how community gardens can run. Marino has volunteered to be coordinator as we get set-up, and we’re hoping to have it ready to go by spring.

We’re meeting again on Thursday 17th February to take the next steps. 7pm at the Roskill South Oasis, Glass Rd.

Light Party

On October 31st we have a LIGHT PARTY – a positive alternative to Halloween. Most years it has a Carnival theme, the children have a great time with the competitions of slow bike riding, skittles, basketball shots, target toss, hole-in-one golf and the coconut shy just to name a few activities that happen.
